Jeremy casts spells in between his careers as a chemical analyst and campus manager. Even now, Harry Potter captivates fans with its enthralling world and memorable cast. Within the wizarding world, we encounter many powerful spells, from Harry's classic disarming Expelliarmus to Voldemort's instant-kill Avada Kedavra. In fact, Avada Kedavra belongs to a trio of "Unforgivable Curses" listed below , jinxes so deadly and cruel that using just one lands a wizard or witch a lifelong ticket into the magical prison Azkaban.
Spells and Harry Potter
The Unforgivable Curses are curses so powerful and so malign that use of them on another human being is grounds for immediate life imprisonment in Azkaban Prison. Ron identifies the first, the Imperius Curse, and Moody tells how that one had caused a lot of trouble for the Ministry : often it was impossible to tell who had been acting out of their own impulses, and who had been driven by someone else. The Cruciatus curse is named by Neville , who has reason to remember it as his parents suffered greatly under it. And the third, the Killing Curse, is named by Hermione ; Moody mentions that it can't be blocked, and only one person is known to have ever survived it: Harry Potter. Harry makes use of two of the Unforgivable Curses in the books. Dueling with Bellatrix Lestrange , he attempts the Cruciatus curse, with limited results; Bellatrix says that he has to really hate someone to make the Unforgivable Curses work properly, righteous indignation isn't enough. He also uses the Cruciatus curse upon Amycus Carrow , after Carrow spits in Professor McGonagall's face, informing her that that was the reason why he did it. And when he is breaking into Gringotts , he uses the Imperius curse to control Travers , who has entered the bank with them, and Bogrod, the goblin who is ushering them down to Bellatrix' vault.
So great is the range of spells in the magical world that the only tools young witches and wizards need to survive is a wand, along with their knowledge of magic. While most spells are used for the benefit of others and the greater good, there are those spells that are used to harm one's enemies. Let's take a look at the deadliest of these dark jinxes. This spell, when cast correctly, renders an opponent unconscious without causing lasting damage. It is commonly used amongst Aurors otherwise known as dark wizard hunters , due to the prohibition against the use of any of the three Unforgivable Curses. This is a body binding curse which, upon incantation, will freeze the entire body of its target. The Legilimency spell allows the user to delve into the mind of their target, thus allowing them to read their thoughts, decipher their emotions and experience their memories. Fortunately, she used this skill for good, rather than with malicious intent. Commonly known as "The Blasting Curse", this spell causes the intended target to explode when cast properly. This spell is occasionally used in duelling, but must be handled properly in order to avoid fatalities.
